PDFCrowd announced on 3 September 2026 that the extension is discontinued, effective immediately, with no further updates or support. Its Chrome Web Store listing has been removed and the product pages now redirect to that announcement.
In their own words, the extension depended on the structure of ChatGPT's web interface, that structure changes often, and keeping up took more maintenance than they were willing to carry.
Every PDF it made carried a PDFCrowd banner at the bottom. Their own FAQ said buying a PDFCrowd license did not remove it. CHATGPT.Vellum adds no third-party banner, just a quiet header with the title and date.
